Help for People in Care Homes and Carers

Donate through Give as you Live Donate

Are you a Family member or carer for someone who lacks capacity and is either in a care home or at home with you? They may be eligible for an advocate (this may be an Independent Mental Capacity Advocate or IMCA).

If you as their nearest relative or carer feel unsure about the situation or your rights then contact us at MhIST – we can either help or give you the details of someone who can.

This can also be for you – these are confusing times that only add to anxieties, sometimes we need a little extra support to help us make more informed decisions.

If you are accessing any support through Social Services and need help understanding what is going on or having your voice heard – you can access an advocate, this  may be one of our advocate or one from another service such as The Bolton Advocacy Hub who provide Care Act Advocates.

If you are struggling with contacting them and need an advocate or are unsure what to do next you can contact our advocacy team on 01204 527200 or send an email to help@mhist.co.uk The advocacy team are still working, they are doing online advocacy, telephone calls and Zoom/Skype/FaceTime meetings.

Please note – we also help carers of those who are experiencing mental health problems.
